Bird Club

Bird Club at Scotten School meets every Thursday morning before school from 7:30 to 8:30. It's led by second grade teacher Judy Netherwood and includes students from second, third, and fourth grades. The students do a variety of bird activities to learn more about birds and their habitats. Some of the activities include; writing and drawing in bird journals, learning how to use bird field guides, painting birds, making suet feeders, and playing bird food and identification games. The last twenty minutes of bird club is devoted to bird watching around the school using adult binoculars provided by Audubon and the U.S. Forest Service. Very often there is an Audubon leader to accompany students' and help identify birds in the field.
